Company Profile

Edwards Electrical & Mechanical is a merit shop employer, providing a wide range of HVAC, and electrical construction related services to institutional, industrial and commercial customers. We offer heating, ventilation and air conditioning services, refrigeration, electrical, sheet metal, process piping, facility controls, plumbing and certified welding.

The efficient operation of your equipment and facility is important to your success. With our turnkey approach, we can offer solutions for all of your company's energy needs, no matter how large or small.

“Our History”.

Don and Ruth Edwards founded Edwards Electrical and Mechanical, Inc. in 1968. The company started out as a small union commercial shop based out of their garage. The business quickly grew and was moved to an old two-story house at the corner of East Street and Terrace in 1970.

In 1972 Edwards Electric changed its operation to a merit based shop and six short years later,1978, Edwards electric moved to a 2500 square foot building at the corner of East Street and Merrill. By 1981 this structure became too small and working with a customer at the time. MacDougall and Pierce, 2500 square feet were added to the building.

During the 70's and early 80's the annual sales averaged between $750,00.00 and $1,000,000.00. The company name was changed to Edwards Electrical and Refrigeration in 1980 and refrigeration is still a part of our product portfolio.

In 1998 FirstEnergy Corporation, a registered public utility holding company headquartered in Akron, Ohio, acquired Edwards Electrical & Mechanical. Today Edwards is still one of the largest electrical & mechanical companies in the Midwest.

In 2006 Edwards was purchased by the Management Team and once again became privately and locally owned.

It is the strength of the Team of Employees, Business Partners and, of course, Our Customers that have been assembled and established that allows us to consider taking on this tremendous responsibility and opportunity. We have over 300 Employees with many more family members that we feel a special responsibility towards in Building the Future of Edwards. Many of our employees have been through significant changes over the last Eight (8) Years as part of a Large Public Utility. We can’t say that there wont be changes, there will. We plan on staying ahead of the competition in Quality, Productivity and Efficiencies to provide our customers with Quality at a Fair Price. This will require strategic planning and involvement from everyone as part of the “Edwards Team”.

Our Valued Business Partners have been a tremendous asset to us in helping to make Edwards the “Best it can be”. We look forward to growing these Partnerships.

Our Strength also lies in the Friendships and Business Relationships we have with our Customers. We appreciate their allowing us to serve in one or more of our capabilities and look forward to continuing to build on what we have begun in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Fabrication, Service and Maintenance and Facilities Management in service to them.
